How to Keep Your Bansuri Happy For 20+ Years (Maintenance Habits That Saves Rs 10,000+)

Hey Music Lovers,

Your Bansuri is made of living bamboo — treat it like your family member, not a plastic toy!

I once left my flute in a hot car for 3 hours → it cracked → ₹7,500 gone in one afternoon.

Never again.

5 Simple Maintenance Habits That Every Pro Follows (And Now You Will Too)

1. Clean after every playing session (30 seconds)

Use the soft, clean cotton handkerchief

Gently wipe the inside of the blowing hole and all finger holes

Removes moisture and saliva → prevents fungus and bad smell

2. Never leave it in direct sunlight or car (0 seconds – just remember!)

Heat above 40°C = Not at all recommended for bamboo

Keep in its cloth bag in normal room temperature (20–30°C)

3. Store properly (10 seconds)

Always in the cotton/cloth bag

Keep horizontally or standing upright (never hanging by the thread). Guess the reason and write in the comments section.

4. Check & re-wrap thread every 3–6 months (5 minutes)

If thread looks dirty or loose → remove old thread

Clean the flute → wrap new cotton thread tightly (YouTube: “bansuri thread wrapping”)

Apply a tiny drop of fevicol at the end to lock it

5. Play it regularly (This is the secret!)

Bamboo loves vibration and breath

A flute played 2–3 times a week stays alive longer than one sitting in the cupboard for months

Your bansuri deserves love!!

Maintain it → get 20+ years of beautiful music.

See you in our next blog.

P.S. Tag your friend who just bought their first flute — save their bamboo baby!
