On May 21, 2015, amid the usual flow of city life, a simple
book distribution moment turned into a beautiful reminder of how Lord Krishna’s
words can instantly awaken long-forgotten spiritual longings. Sometimes, the
soul recognizes its home even before the mind fully catches up.
I offered him a copy of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
“I have seen many people distributing Bhagavad
Gita…” he said thoughtfully. “I am missing the name of that
organization which also distributes this scripture…!!”
“ISKCON : )” I replied with a smile.
“Yes Yes!! I will go and get Bhagavad Gita from there
only… I was also looking to visit their temple,” he said, his face
brightening with sudden recognition.
“That’s really good,” I responded warmly.
“This thought of visiting the temple got refreshed in your heart the
moment you saw this Bhagavad Gita being offered to you. Now please meditate on
this: Just by seeing the Gita, you remembered such a blissful intention—to
visit a temple, which is actually Vaikuṇṭha-loka
manifesting in this material world. Imagine what more bliss the Gita can bring
once you actually accept it and start reading its pages.”
He looked reflective. “I see… So any particular
reason why you are distributing BG?”
“Once you come to the eighteenth chapter of the
Bhagavad Gita, you will get the answer,” I said gently. “But before
reaching that chapter, you must first of all have the Bhagavad Gita : )”
With a soft smile and a quiet “: ).. Alright
please,” he accepted the book.
I am thankful to this sincere soul for remembering Srila
Prabhupada’s ISKCON and welcoming the Bhagavad Gita into his life!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada, who made the temples and
the Gita accessible to every seeker around the world.
This encounter is a sweet, powerful lesson: The Bhagavad
Gita is not just a book; it is a living reminder. Even a fleeting glimpse of it
can revive the deepest spiritual desires we carry within—desires to visit Lord Krishna’s
temple, to hear His words, to feel close to Him again. Sometimes we forget
those longings in the noise of daily life, but Lord Krishna, ever
compassionate, uses the smallest trigger to bring them back to the surface.
If just seeing the Gita can awaken the thought of visiting a
temple, imagine what happens when you open its pages, chapter by chapter, and
let Lord Krishna speak directly to your heart.
