On June 6, 2015, while the platform buzzed with the familiar
chaos of trains arriving and departing, one traveller’s polite hesitation
turned into a moment of pure, joyful realization. In the midst of waiting for
his train, he received not just a book, but a gentle, loving nudge from Lord Krishna—placed
right into the palm of his hand.
I offered him a copy of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
“I cannot manage to care for Bhagavad Gita with me…
This is a very sacred scripture. Once bought, we should give proper attention
and respect to it,” he said earnestly.
“So may I please know why you are becoming so afraid of
giving attention or care to this sacred book?” I asked gently.
“It’s just that the atmosphere in which I work does not
allow me to give proper space and care to this scripture…”
“Can you change that atmosphere, Sir?”
“No… It’s my work for livelihood.”
“Don’t you want to get promoted to that atmosphere
where you can remember Hari and be in eternal bliss?”
“But it’s not in my “hand” na!!”
“May I please see your palm please, if you are
comfortable?”
“Yes”, he said, extending his hand.
I placed the Bhagavad Gita softly into his open palm.
“It’s here in your “hand”.. See : )”
He burst into laughter. “Hahahaha… You are from which
place?”
“Delhi… Please study it at least once.”
“Why are you so urging for giving Bhagavad Gita to
me?”
“It’s for you… That’s why. Although we all have
forgotten our real father, Lord Krishna, He has not forgotten us. For
delivering us, He is so compassionate that He assumes the form of Srimad
Bhagavad Gita. So please study this.”
“Alright… Will try to give due care to this sacred
book.”
“And study it also please : )”
As the train whistle sounded in the distance, he held the
book close, smiling with a new lightness in his eyes.
I am thankful to him for accepting the Bhagavad Gita and
promising to give it the best care and respect—by studying it, As It Is!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada, who presented this merciful
form of Krishna so perfectly that even a busy traveller on a railway platform
could feel the Lord’s personal compassion.
This platform encounter carries a message that resonates
deeply in our fast-moving lives: We often feel the sacred must wait for the
“perfect” atmosphere—more time, a quieter job, a calmer mind. Yet Lord
Krishna doesn’t wait for ideal conditions. He comes right into our hands, right
in the middle of the railway noise, the deadlines, the daily grind. The Gita
isn’t fragile; it is the strongest, most merciful companion we could ever
receive. It transforms any atmosphere—office, train, home—into a place where Hari
can be remembered.
When this passenger laughed and said “Alright,” it
wasn’t just acceptance of a book. It was acceptance of Lord Krishna’s reminder:
“I am here, in your hand. Study Me. Let Me care for you eternally.”
To everyone reading this: The next time you think, “I can’t
give proper care right now,” look at your own hand. Lord Krishna is already
closer than you imagine—waiting only for your “Alright.”
More real-life moments of divine compassion coming soon, all
building toward a book filled with these sacred, everyday encounters. Keep your
hand open—Lord Krishna is always ready to place His words there!
